AMPS

AIR CREW MOUNTED POWER SUPPLY

AMPS is a portable vest-mounted unit designed to provide DC power and communications interfaces to aircrew helmets.

AMPS eliminates the need for multiple helmet-mounted battery packs and reduces overall helmet weight by providing a single rechargeable power supply.

AMPS will supply an estimated 40 hours of continuous run time for helmet-mounted Night Vision Goggles (NVGs), Active Noise Reduction (ANR), and boom or mask mounted lip light. Power is provided through two independent, rechargeable, and selectable internal batteries.

AMPS includes several redundancies to ensure helmet communications and power are maintained in the event of failure or damage. Additionally, battery charge can be maintained at 100% during flight through inflight charging interface.

AMPS was specifically designed for use with civilian search and rescue, EMS, and law enforcement as well as military and paramilitary units.

AMPS is suitable for use in both fixed and rotor-wing aircraft.

KEY FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Communications interface is compatible with civilian, military, NATO, or Multy-Pin type plugs, used in both high and low impedance systems.

  • Attaches directly to aircrew survival vest via Airborne’s custom Molly Fast© attachment system.
  • Compatible with in-ear Communication Ear Pieces (CEP) for increased noise attenuation and speech clarity. (ACCES and PACE custom molded in-ear speakers also available.)
  • Selectable Primary and Secondary internal batteries provide redundancy.
  • Detailed battery level indicator.
  • ANR on/off switch allows de-selection of ANR in the event of failure.
  • Fault and low battery LEDs.
  • Covert mode allows AMPS to provide power and communications while all external LEDs, warnings, and indications are held in the off position.
  • Integrated NVIS compatible map light with sliding intensity switch. Switch controls brightness of both the map light and lip light.
  • Stereo models compatible with 3D audio.
  • In the event of in-flight damage the AMPS can be quickly and easily removed from the helmet cable allowing continued communications.
  • One CR123 battery is maintained within the ANVIS mount to provide triple redundancy for NVG power. Requires the use of Wilcox’s Dual Power Aviation Mount (DPAM) helmet NVG mount.
  • Capable of powering PRC-112/G survival radios in an emergency. (AMPS acts as a spare battery through the use of an adapter cable.)
  • Dust and water resistant to an IP-67 rating.
  • Optional internal voice recorder captures all audio passing through AMPS (ICS and radios).
  • Fischer brand connectors provide secure attachment of aircraft communications cable while including a quick disconnect feature, allowing easy egress.
    fischer-plug
  • Total weight less than 16 ounces.
  • All lights are NVIS compatible to MIL-DTL-7788.
